Castle in Cascais

Yesterday we took a long walk along the beach in Cascais which is the western most edge of the Iberian peninsula and all of Europe. You can't get any closer to America from this point.

It was here we saw the coolest castle ... there are no longer King and Queens living in this one though.










Another cool thing we saw in Cascais was some workers building the sidewalks and many roads. Here the sidewalks are made out of stones all held together with sand and they are built by hand

Friday ... in Lisbon

still struggling with the internet ... using a computer at the hotel where everything is in Portuguese.

can´t seem to upload pictures ... so I will have to wait until i can get my laptop on the network in a cafe somewhere.

Well travelling in a a country where you don;t speak the language is never easy so without the modern conveniences of the Ritz four seasons ... It has been hard to find internet and time to use it to post pictures to the blog.

Today I'm in Cascais with some great new friends from work and we are shopping and enjoying the sea air.

in the last two days I took some great pictures of old buildings, churches and castles... I'm hoping to take some more today ... here they are ...

The most boring post

Well I have had a big work day today. We were. In workshops all day. The reason there are no pictures in this post is because i haven't seen anything in portugal today. All i have seen today is the inside of this hotel

Bom Dia,

Well today we are going to work in the morning and then do an activitie out in the city. I will will take lots of pictures and post this after noon.

Boa Noite from Lisboa,

Well I had a great day seeing the old city. Went out early bfore all the tourists to watch the city wake up.

It was very interesting watching the different groups heading into work.

I did a lot of walking today ... maybe 10 miles. For those of you who might need a little help with how far that is ... that is about walking to and from Ethan's School 5 times in a row. I walked and shopped a little for about 5 hours straight ... Phew!!

While I did all that walking I saw a lot of old and interest buildings ... I will write more later about other things i did today.

Lisboa!

I made to Lisbon! It was about 16 hours in transit but because I flew east it is still Sunday (5:25)



The city is beatiful and my hotel is very nice.

Jet Exhaust in Franfurt

Well it is noon here in Frankfurt ... 3:00 AM in Portland. Needless to say i'm tired. Three more hours to Lisbon. don;t ask me why ... but the airport smells like jet exhaust. here is a video of the airport ...

Cya in a Week

So I'm off on my first trip to Europe! Lisboa (Lisbon) here I come!

Had a great morning with the family getting packed and tickling the kids. I called everyone out for a goodbye picture and as usual the boys were half naked.







The cab ride to the airport is always better when the diver takes the back way past through the golf courses. Sometimes I forget how green and beautiful it is here until I'm leaving.





Anyway ... have to board soon so I will wrap this up ... next stop Frankfurt (3 hour layover) :-
